Welcome Venice screening and Il Canaletto exhibition

Enjoy a spectacular night of Italian art, food and culture to mark the final week of Canaletto’s Venice Revisited, the acclaimed exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. Working in partnership with Royal Museums Greenwich, CinemaItaliaUK will screen a film on Venice!

The evening will begin with a private view of the exhibition, which brings together the Italian artist’s complete set of 24 Venetian views from the Woburn Abbey Collection. After taking in Canaletto’s landscapes, head to the Queen’s House, built by famed architect Inigo Jones for Queen Anne of Denmark in 1616, for a drinks reception with classic Italian treats.

To complete your cultural experience, make your way up to the Great Hall – prized for its geometric marble floor – for a special screening of Welcome Venice which will be introduced by Chairman of Venice in Peril Fund CIO, Guy Elliott.

This evocative film directed by Andrea Segre uncovers the lives of two fishermen brothers, whose livelihood is under threat from Venice’s rising tide of tourists. Get ready for an unmissable night of Venetian delights.
